Gerrett Morris for State Representative

Meet Gerrett

There are going to be some tough decisions to be made in Topeka the next few years, and Gerrett Morris wants to be there to promote and protect the interests of the 69th District.

Gerrett Morris’ family has lived in Saline County for five generations. His ancestors were farmers, and his parents still operate a small farm just outside of Assaria. His father, now retired from the US Air Force, currently works in a factory. His mother owned her own retail business for several years and now works for the Postal Service.

After his father retired in 1989, the family moved just outside of Assaria, where Gerrett helped out around the farm, learning firsthand about responsibility and the value of hard work. He graduated from Southeast of Saline High School and Cloud County Community College with an Associates Degree in Horticulture.

Along with co-founding Ad Astra Books and Coffeehouse, he is the Landscape Supervisor at Rolling Hills Zoo, where he has been employed for 18 years, and serves nationally as a board member of the Association of Zoological Horticulture. He and his wife, Ann Marie, have two wonderful children.

Salina Journal: Morris files to run for Kansas House

FROM THE SALINA JOURNAL: Garrett Morris, 42, a Salina Democrat, has filed for his party’s nomination for the 69th District seat in the Kansas House of Representatives. The only other candidate who had filed for the 69th District seat as of late Thursday was incumbent J.R. Claeys, R-Salina. Morris said Claeys has not represented the district well in Topeka. Morris opposes income tax cuts signed into law by former Gov. Sam Brownback and supports expanding KanCare and increasing education spending.

Morris Challenges Claeys Again for House Seat

The race for the Salina area 69th District Kansas House of Representatives seat will look familiar. The same two candidates who ran for the seat back in 2016 are running again. Democrat Gerrett Morris is again challenging Republican incumbent J.R, Claeys.

    Vote for Gerrett Morris

Hey, people of Saline County, people of Kansas. How many times now have we gone to the polls, cast our votes, to be disappointed with the results? Too many times! If you like how the state of this state is, please continue your current plan. However, you are to blame as we all are for those we’ve elected in the past. We have a chance to redeem ourselves by trying again. We are responsible.
